Hamburgers: The Economics of America’s Favorite Food
The proteins in cheese, bread, and the organically raised free range hormone free antibiotic free grass fed beef burger aren’t very compatible in the stomach, and result in undigested animal proteins fermenting in the intestinal tract (leads to colon cancers and other bowel/GI issues over time). The acids in the ketchup and mustard further complicate this as they cause the stomach to produce less hydrochloric acid to digest the meats. Carbohydrates in the bun and proteins in the beef and cheese require different enzymes and digestive juices which end up competing with each other, and result in half-digested food which gets stuck in the intestinal walls and ferments, as opposed to being absorbed as nutrition. The average American male carries around 5lbs of undigested meat in his intestines at all times.
Its really no mystery at all why the West suffers from so many traumatic gastrointestinal disorders.
